Antshake India

Antshake is looking for opportunities around the globe. And we're focussing our lenses on the world's largest film industry - India!

Experienced film maker COLIN ELVES is Antshake's representative in the republic.

Colin is using his years of hands-on experience to identify opportunities, so that Antshake and its investors can benefit from involvement in the best Indian film projects.

He is compiling a slate of projects suitable for investment, and seeking investment partners in India.

Working proactively under the auspices of the UK-Indian film co-production treaty, Colin aims to secure a role for Antshake in some fantastic film projects!

Colin caught our eye because he's a great filmmaker. He also applies a methodology that aligns with Antshake's core approach:

  1. Always start with a first rate script.

Colin has an eye for a solid story and a strong sense of where and how scripts can be improved. Part of his remit is to identify stories with potential, sourcing and screening scripts before passing them on for consideration, either for co-production or funding.
  2. Be prepared to work within a strict budget.

Colin has shot LOADS of low budget productions. He knows how much things might cost to get done, and whether shots/scenes are achievable within a budget. He's a dab hand at visualising and delivering workarounds or alternatives that can save money without damaging the story.
  3. Make sure you have a solid above the line team.

Having worked behind the camera with dozens of directors, Colin has a good understanding of what makes a creative relationship work. This, enhanced by his psychology background and a natural understanding of interpersonal relationships, means that Colin excels when it comes to selecting a strong creative team.
  4. Understand your Market

With the co-production treaty in place, Colin knows that many Indian productions will seek partners in the UK. Similarly, Indian investors may wish to invest outside of India. Colin is well placed to forge links for Antshake.

Production crews and facilities in India are certainly cheaper than in the UK. In particular the post-production houses are extremely strong.

And the Road to Bombay is a two-way street. Colin sees opportunity in the huge fan base of actors looking to move out of their core markets. A growing number of major stars in domestic markets around the world are becoming successful in the UK and US. Latin American stars such as Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Chinese action stars Jackie Chan, Michele Yeoh and Jet Li, suggest that the time is ripe for a major Bollywood star to cross over to Hollywood stardom.

So, if you're looking for a foothold in the Indian film industry, or if you're already in India, looking for a young and nimble production company to produce in India or in the UK, .
